About Coach Ryan DuPraw

In a world of conventions you will find a most unconventional Powerskating Coach in Ryan.  He learned early in his career that if you can maximize your speed.  It can be turned into a weapon on the ice.

Ryan was born and bred in Michigan skating from a young age and was brought up through the travel hockey leagues of Flint and Detroit.

You might hear that someone played college or pro, but Coach Ryan was actually trained “how to coach” powerskating by THE NHL Networks Head Skating Consultant Robby Glantz as well as The New York Rangers Powerskating & Skills Coach Marc Ciaccio. He was taught and understands the major and minor mechanics that are needed and how to assemble them into a system for individuals, and teams of every level.

Ryan was then offered the position of head powerskating coach for the Carolina Hurricanes minor league affiliate (Florida Everblades) of the ECHL. In Florida, he was also named powerskating and pre-season boot camp coach for Florida Gulf Coast University. Ryan was also instrumental in helping to build the Southwest Hockey Academy as their first powerskating coach.

Throughout his coaching career, Ryan has continued his craft to work with future NHL draft picks, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, USPHL, and prep school players.

Ryan’s unique custom-tailored skating systems are designed for players to easily break down to own and master skills.

He has been invited back each summer to PNC Arena by Shane Willis to serve as the powerskating coach for the Carolina Hurricanes Elite Summer Camp.

He currently leads powerskating for the NC State University IcePack and leads the Junior Hurricanes Girls Premier AAA powerskating sessions as well as running and guest coaching at powerskating camps, clinics, and classes.
